Śrī Mahādeva said: Having satisfied that brahmin with praise and with courtesy, the assembly of sages began to speak in turn, O fair-faced one. Pulastya said: Those who look with a crooked eye upon a guest who has come to the house — (the guest,) having given them his own sin, goes away taking their merit. That fool obtains the womb of a she-elephant for seven births. Go quickly, best of the twice-born, give auspicious blessings to the king. Then the great sinner becomes a boar for seven births; then he becomes a snake for seven births, and after that he is clean. Suyajña said: Who, having done what, and the ungrateful — to which Raurava hells do they go? I wish to hear of each; you ought to tell me, O lord. Then his birth is, for seven (lives), that of a brahmin who drives bulls, and he becomes a burner of the corpses of śūdras for seven births. He who in the sun's heat drives a bull that is hungry and thirsty gets the sin of a hundred brahmin-murders — here there is no doubt. Mārkaṇḍeya said: The fault of brahmins in going to a śūdra woman, O king, I shall declare as the Veda states it; listen attentively.
