By whom is she to be worshipped, by whom was she praised first of old, O sage? And by whom did she become one worthy of your worship? Tell me, ah! — the ten-syllabled (mantra), preceded by the seed-syllables of Lakṣmī, Māyā, Kāma and Vāṇī, with 'Vṛndāvanī' in the dative, and ending with the wife of fire (svāhā). She who is worshipped unceasingly in countless universes — therefore I worship her, named 'Worshipped-by-the-Universe', to be revered by the world. By Viṣṇu's boon that goddess became well pleased; Sarasvatī embraced her and made her dwell near at hand. As I shall declare, one should worship her with devotion, without the invocation rite, with the sixteen services; the meditation destroys sin.
