And they were thrown into turmoil then, tormented by Skanda's spear. Drums sounded in heaven, and a rain of flowers fell. He (the demon) made the peacock battered with a divine weapon, and hurled a spear, radiant as the sun, that split his chest. And by that spear the mighty Kārttikeya fell into a swoon; Kālī took him on her lap and carried him into Śiva's presence. And the Ādityas fought fiercely with Viśva and Palāśa, the eleven great Rudras with the eleven terrible ones. The Dānavas, wounded and mangled by Skanda's net of arrows, were terrified, and all of them, of great strength and prowess, fled. Kālī hurled the Māheśvara (weapon), like a tongue of fire; the king quickly struck it down with the Vaiṣṇava (weapon), as if in play. In anger she seized a hundred lakhs of Dānavas as if in play, and the terrifying one went swiftly to devour Śaṅkhacūḍa. The Dānava warded (her) off with a very sharp divine weapon. That goddess hurled a sword, exceedingly like the summer sun. Delighted, unwearied in the great battle, he mounted a chariot — a foremost, lovely aerial car inlaid with the essence of the best of jewels.
