The Sūta's son said: Then Brahmā commanded those sons of his to create, and they all, best of brahmins, carried out creation, except Nārada. Śānti's son was Santoṣa, and Puṣṭi's son became Mahān; of Dhṛti, Dhairya, and of Tuṣṭi the two sons are known as Harṣa and Darpa. Indra's son Jayanta, O brahmin, was born of Śacī. Having for a moment held to his breast the daughter of Viśvakarman, Savarṇā, (wife) of Āditya, he kissed her lip; and leaving her there in private the Supreme Person went away. And Mahāpadma and Śaṅku and Śaṅkha and Saṃvaraṇa, and Dhṛtarāṣṭra and Durdharṣa, Durjaya, Durmukha, Bala; Puṣyā, Āśleṣā, Maghā, Pūrvaphalgunī, Uttaraphalgunī, Hastā, Citrā and Svātī, Viśākhā and Anurādhā — these daughters of Dakṣa, seeing their husband released, wept again and came for refuge to their father Dakṣa, the best of the splendid ones. "Fallen, diseased, wicked, penniless, devoid of virtues, young or old — a faithful wife should serve him and not abandon him." Hearing Dakṣa's words, the treasury of compassion spoke to him a speech sweeter than nectar, O brahmin — he who is a cage of refuge: "He who out of fear gives up one who has submitted and come for refuge — Dharma forsakes him and departs, cursing him most terribly."
