The bard said: Seeing the twice-born, the host of gods rose up (in respect), and there in that assembly there was conversation with one another. Brahmā said: My son Nārada was cursed, and the gandharva Upabarhaṇa gave up his life-breaths by yoga — again, indeed, by my own curse. Time gathers up the worlds, and Yama is the chastiser of sinners; and Death approaches all, always out of fear, by whose command (they act). Brahmā himself, the ordainer of the worlds, the doer of all, meditates ceaselessly on (his) lotus feet, unable to see (him). I am the chief of (his) portions — of Kṛṣṇa, the Supreme Self; who could go beyond (his) greatness? And I know nothing (of it). For him there is no expiation here for as long as a hundred (years) of Brahmā. The lowest of men who reviles his guru, who reviles his father, he goes to (the hell) Kālasūtra for as long as moon and sun (endure). Brahmā, Viṣṇu, Śiva and the rest, and the worlds of the gods with (their) moving and unmoving beings — of how many kinds such are there, continually, in each universe! He in whose line I was born, and whose pupil and child (I am) — this word of his is knowledge: hear it, you hosts of gods.
