The bard said: Having stood there a moment, the gods, led by Brahmā and Īśāna, went into Mālāvatī's presence, bestowers of the highest good fortune. "O Mālāvatī, who is this utterly dried-up corpse in your lap, O blameless one? How is a dead man in the keeping of a living woman? And the gods are the all-knowing givers of the fruits of deeds, the makers of the trees of karma, and, in sport, the cutters of their roots. A man of merit performs austerity for a very long time in a holy land, and the gods are the givers of the fruits of those (austerities) — this is true, there is no doubt. Whoever worships Gaṇeśvara, the eternal god of gods, to be honoured before all, lord of all, with devotion birth after birth — (him who is) both with form and formless, light, the mighty one who acts by his own will, the support of all, the lord of all, supreme bliss, the Lord — Yama in that instant, out of fear, removes his record far away, and Brahmā appoints for him beforehand the honey-mixture (madhuparka) and the rest."

duritāni ca bhītāni koṭijanmakṛtāni ca || taṃ vihāya palāyante vainateyaṃ yathoragāḥ
And his sins, done in crores of births, become frightened and flee, abandoning him, as snakes flee (from) Garuḍa, son of Vinatā.

yāvatkṛṣṇo hi goloke tāvadbhakto vasetsadā || nimeṣaṃ manyate dāso naśvaraṃ brahmaṇo vayaḥ
As long as Kṛṣṇa is in Goloka, so long does the devotee always dwell (there); the servant reckons the lifespan of Brahmā, which is perishable, as (no more than) the blink of an eye.
