At the Trikadrukas the buffalo, of mighty vigour, drank his fill of the barley-mixed soma, pressed with Viṣṇu, as much as he wished. That intoxicated him to do a great deed, him the great, the wide; the god attended the god, the true drop true Indra.

From the three jars the Great and Strong hath drunk drink blent with meal. With Vishnu hath he quaffed the flowing Soma juice, all that he would. That hath so heightened him the Great, the Vast, to do his mighty work. So may the God attend the God, true Indu Indra who is true.

Sing forth now to this Indra the strengthening song that goes before the chariot. Even in close encounter, maker of room, in the clash, in the battles, O Vṛtra-slayer, be our urger. — Let the bowstrings of the petty ones snap on their bows.

Compare with Ralph T.H. Griffith

Sing strength to Indra that shall set his chariot in the foremost place. Giver of room in closest fight, slayer of foes in shock of war, be thou our great encourager. Let the weak bowstrings break upon the bows of feeble enemies.

— tr. Ralph T.H. Griffith (1895–96)

You released the rivers to flow downward, you slew the serpent. Without a rival, Indra, were you born; you make all that is desirable thrive — you we embrace. — Let the bowstrings of the petty ones snap on their bows.

Compare with Ralph T.H. Griffith

Thou didst destroy the Dragon: thou sentest the rivers down to earth. Foeless, O Indra, wast thou born. Thou tendest well each choicest thing. Therefore we draw us close to thee. Let the weak bowstrings break upon the bows of feeble enemies.

— tr. Ralph T.H. Griffith (1895–96)

Let all the hostilities of the stranger utterly perish; (let) our prayers (prevail). You are the shooter of the deadly weapon at the enemy who seeks to slay us, Indra; your gift is a giver of goods. — Let the bowstrings of the petty ones snap on their bows.

Destroyed be all malignities and all our enemy's designs. Thy bolt thou castest at the foe, O Indra, who would smite us dead: thy liberal bounty gives us wealth. Let the weak bow- strings break upon the bows of feeble enemies.
